Artist Workshop
Then we worked with Seychellois artists to prepare an exhibition and poetry night at the Alliance Francaise, also coinciding with the Paris global climate talks– both a great success, and many thanks to all the participants – visual artists, musicians, poets, and the people who came out to both events. Thanks also to the Alliance Francaise for supporting these events.

Climate Change March
S4S participated in the global climate march on November 29th, an international event coordinated by 350.org and AVAAZ on the eve of the opening of the Paris Climate Summit. We had a small but noisy group to do a circuit around the Beau Vallon area ending up with a cool photo sent to 350.org to include in their presentation to heads of state at the Paris conference. Climate Change Curriculum Guides
S4S wrote three curriculum guides for teachers – one on agriculture, one on construction and one on tourism. This curriculum guide is designed to draw attention to the industry and climate change. It assists students to learn about climate change, how industry affects the climate, skills to mitigate & how can industry become more sustainable. Teachers Guide |
Ride for the Planet
The Global Day of Action for Climate Change, was observed in almost every corner of the globe. Coordinated by Avaaz and 350.org, international organizations dedicated to climate change awareness-raising, the event was the largest mobilisation in history, aiming to show leaders that people really care about climate change and push them lo lead.
In Seychelles, S4S coordinated two climate action events on September 21st with its partners. On Mahe, the Seychelles Cycling Association (SCA) hosted a road race dedicated to raising awareness about climate change and how riding a bike is a viable alternative to cars. The 80km race started at Anse La Mouche at and ended by the public beach park (Anse La Mouche) where the government has had to take action to stop the beach from eroding away due to sea level rise and storm surges.
On Praslin, September 21st 2014, a group of divers at Octopus Divers joined together to learn about climate change and how it is affecting Seychelles' corals, This event was organised in collaboration with the Praslin Environment Group and Sustainability for Seychelles.
Photos taken at the event were later uploaded to the aavaz website and was aired at the UN Climate Leadership Summit on 23rd September 2014. The leaders were personally invited by the UN Secretary General had to prepare climate action pledges of how their country intends to address the climate crisis.

Climate Change Education
Thanks to another grant from the EU climate change support program we are able to offer workshops to post-secondary schools, do community outreach, and other activities to increase awareness of the risks of climate change and actions we can all take. Please contact us if you work at a post-secondary school and want us to come and do a workshop. We have also printed more copies of our climate change citizen’s guide which is available upon request to schools, offices, churches and other interested groups.
