Sustainable or “green” living is a term to describe a way of life that enhances relationships between humans and nature. In Seychelles this means combining traditional Creole cultural practices from our past that were in harmony with nature and fostered a strong sense of community, with modern technological innovations that help make our lives easier without harming the environment or people.
Given the threat of Climate Change and its impacts on our lives, it is important that each of us take stock of our lifestyle and make changes that can help alleviate the situation. Small changes, such as how we shop, move, eat, drink, work and live our everyday life can contribute to the well being of our ecosystem, particularly if each of the nearly 7 billion people living on the planet we call home do their bit.
S4S aims to promote sustainable, “green” living in Seychelles in collaboration with citizens, the Government, other NGOs and the private sector. The following pages have straight forward advice for anyone wishing to adopt a “green” lifestyle or business.
